That’s not my car! That’s the wife, finally talked her into getting out on track in her grocery getter, a 2019 Hyundai Veloster N. We were at the track April 18th and 19th. We had the opportunity to drive in both directions which was a fun experience on back to back days. We both definitely prefer the CCW layout as it seems to flow better. The car isn’t track prepped per-se, it’s on 5 year old Yokohama Advan Apex’s, but I did put on new pads, rotors, and fluid for her. She had a great time (or so she says). Her lap times improved through the day but her biggest issue was a lack of confidence. I took the car out for 1 session with her in the passenger seat on Saturday (CW Layout) and only managed a 2:16. The car was really eager and fun to drive on track, and had a shocking amount of front grip in corners, but the old tires really held it back. Minimum speeds in corners were atrocious. To her credit she handled the car really well and got within 9 seconds of the time I set. The car is on 19x8.5 wheels, 245 tires, with a cat-back exhaust, and a forge intake.

Safety wired my turbo hardware and it finally stayed on. Car is feeling great, braking needs improvement still, maybe some-day I’ll learn to rev match? Probably not, just going to get drive by wire for auto-blip.

Clips from 4/18-4/19 - How to pass under double yellow

Had the scariest experience I have ever had at a trackday yet. There was a black Camaro in my run group who completely ignored the yellow flags and waving double yellows, leading to him nearly rear-ending me. Thankfully I saw him coming and moved out of his way. I later overheard him complaining about how much traffic there was in this session… pretty wild.

Welded the nuts to my turbo housing and they still came loose and blew the gasket…. Next solution on the list, safety wire.

Really need to keep my turbo attached to the manifold. Day cut short with only 1 nut of 4 remaining on the turbo manifold studs. Going to try Flyin Miatas Stage 8 locking hardware.
